The local distributor for the three-pointed star has announced the introduction of the latest member of their AMG roster—the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC.
Mercedes-Benz Philippines—under Auto Nation Group—brings the AMG option for the subcompact crossover that was released in middle of August last year.
The upgrades on this athletic version go beyond the AMG badge as it has a bigger engine to start things with.
Instead of a 1.3L inline 4-cylinder engine that provides up to 163 horsepower and almost 339 Nm of torque, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 306 horsepower. It also has five drive programs under AMG DYNAMIC SELECT such as Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual, compared to the GLB’s three (Sport, Comfort and ECO). All the five modes adjust to fit the driver’s targeted response from the engine, transmission, suspension, and steering.
Although the marque is quite known for luxury, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC also has the features that can tackle off-road terrains. The AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive ensures sufficient grip on the ground while the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT eight-speed transmission highly-utilizes the powertrain capability.
Add to that, the short overhangs and tall ground clearance and it is bound to conquer steep slopes and uneven environment.
Despite having the performance to be downright dirty, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC will remind users that it has the looks to match thanks to its AMG-specific radiator trim, 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, AMG roof spoiler, and AMG high-performance brake system with silver brake calipers. Additional AMG badges are also seen around (black AMG lettering at the front, AMG rear apron with two round tailpipe trim and the TURBO 4MATIC lettering on the front wings).
On the interior, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC is also fitted with sport seats in black Artico Dinamica microfiber upholstery while the three-spoke steering wheel is in Nappa leather—similar to the GLB sibling. The driver is given additional control as the flat-bottomed steering wheel with perforated grip area also has Touch Control buttons.
Further, the newly-brought Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC also comes with MBUX infotainment system with a 10.25 inch display and voice control—activated with a simple “Hey, Mercedes.” It is also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-capable and plays sounds through Burmester surround sound system.
Coming as standard with the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC are the Keyless Go that allows easy opening, starting and locking the vehicle, and the Attention Assist that detects the onset of drowsiness on the basis of steering behavior.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC is retailed at P5.69 million—around a P1 million difference to the GLB. The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC is now available for test drive at their showroom in Edsa Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City.
