Auto Nation Group, the importer and distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, has revealed the second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The latest CLA has improved lines and spaces compared to its predecessor and wears an improved MBUX system to match.
Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG, explained the new CLA's sensual design with a face and performance to match.
"As a four-door coupé, the new CLA intrigues with its puristic, seductive profile and brings the design DNA of 'sensual purity' to a new level. It is compelling for its perfect proportions, which are very close to the initial design sketches: a long, stretched bonnet, a compact greenhouse, a wide track with flared wheel arches and our typical GT rear end with a pronounced 'Coke-bottle shoulder,'" he explained.
The new CLA has been fitted with LED high-performance headlamps with daylight running lamps to match the low-slung bonnet and the diamond grill that would exude the classic sporty DNA of the brand.
The 18-inch light alloy wheels and the long, stretched entry line above the windows as well frameless doors provides the athletic yet elegant persona.
The inside is where the futuristic appeal of the vehicle exudes.
The Artico leather driver seat can be electrically adjusted with three memory functions. The leather multi-function steering wheel and new touchpad provides more control on the vehicle.
Space-wise, the new CLA gives enough personal space compared to the previous generation.
Headroom has been increased by 17 mm and elbow room by 35 mm. The wider opening (+262 mm) of the boot compartment makes it convenient to load unto than the predecessor model.
Aside from that, seats have a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat backrest.
Just like the A-Class and the GLE, the latest CLA showcases the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with two seven-digital screens for the instrument cluster and the media display.
The new CLA has a boatload of safety and driver assistance features such as the Active Parking Assist with rear-view camera, Active Brake Assist, Adaptive brake lights, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (EPS), Acceleration Skid Control, and Hill-Start Assist, among others.
Aside from that, the CLA has a Pedestrian Protection Active Bonnet as well as multiple airbags for the driver and front passenger, including windowbags and kneebag for the driver.
Powering the new CLA is an in-line four-cylinder engine mated to a 7G-DCT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing an output and torque of 136 hp and 200 Nm, respectively.
It also is equipped with Dynamic Select that allows the driver to shift between various driving modes that suit their driving style, the weather, and road conditions.
The new CLA--with a price tag of PHP3.190 million–comes as a lone variant of CLA 180 Progressive and clad in Polar White, Digital White, Night Black, Mountain Gray, Denim Blue, Sun Yellow, Jupiter Red, Mojave Silver, or Cosmos Black.
