We cannot control macro or world events, but 2022 is a case in point that we are moving in the right direction”, said Mercedes-Benz Group Chief Executive Officer Ola Kaellenius.
The Stuttgart-based brand shared that in 2022, it has expanded its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) offering to nine cars and four vans including the new EQS SUV, EQE SUV, and the recently revealed eSprinter.
Reports from the automotive company reveal that it sold 2,040,719 cars (149,227 of which were battery-electric vehicles BEV) and 415,344 vans (15,000 were eVans) in 2022.
“In addition to delivering strong financial results, the team accelerated our pace as a technology leader in electric and automated driving. The next chapter in our transformation will be revealed during the Mercedes-Benz Strategy Update in California on February 22 focusing on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System,” added Kaellenius.
With a focus on electric vehicles, the Mercedes-Benz Group expects the average carbon dioxide fleet of new passenger cars in Europe (European Union, Norway, and Iceland) for 2023 to decline significantly compared to the previous year. With the further expansion of the fleet of electric vehicles, it can be assumed that the CO2 requirements in Europe will also be met in 2023.
