MG’s refreshed EV SUV will ship to the UK and is expected to arrive in its dealerships in Europe by November 2021.
Expected to build on the success of the ZS, the refreshed model looks to take the nameplate to the future with its modernized design, improved performance, a significantly longer range, and even more technology.
According to MG, the new ZS EV will be powered by a 72kWh battery pack which offers a range of 273 miles — 110 miles better than its predecessor. MG adds that a 51kWh battery with a 198-mile range will be offered next year.
Charging status can be viewed on the four-stage indicator LEDs in the charging port. A combination of the Type 2 and CCS charger provides up to 7kW fast charging using the on-board AC charger, or up to 76kW DC rapid charging (depending on climatic conditions).
MG says that the 72kWh battery can be charged from zero to 100 percent in 10.5 hours on a standard 7kW charger, or as little as 42 minutes on a 100kW rapid charger.
Every new MG ZS EV also comes with the new state-of-the-art MG iSmart connectivity system, which offers a connection via a smartphone app, through which various car, climate, security, and charging functions can be controlled remotely.
A 10.1-inch tablet-style touchscreen that features new graphics and improved functionalities sits at the center of the dashboard. It’s accompanied by a new instrument cluster.
In terms of style, the new MG ZS EV gets “a new electric-only front end, with a stamped-effect grille to improve aerodynamics and a new side-opening charging port. The bold new face is set off by LED headlights and distinctive daytime running lights. It also gets a redesigned rear bumper and new wheels.”
Pricing for the New MG ZS EV will be announced in November 2021.
