The MG GT is a stylish and fast-looking sedan able to satisfy the needs of those looking for a car that’s a cut above the rest.
The sedan’s three-dimensional digital flame grille, carbon fiber front spoiler, a set of sporty two-tone Tomahawk alloy wheels, a ducktail spoiler, and three-dimensional racetrack taillamps, simply evoke modern minimalist vibes with a hint of elegant sportiness.
Decorating its ergonomic fighter jet-inspired cockpit are zero-gravity sports seats, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 10-inch floating high-definition touchscreen infotainment system.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a seven-speed twin-clutch Sportronic transmission with paddle shifters. It pushes up to 158 horsepower (hp) with 250 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
MG might have found the perfect recipe for a hot-selling sporty sedan, but how does it fare against its competitors? On that note, let’s take a look at what other options car buyers have over the MG GT.
The Honda City RS is the range-topping version of the City nameplate. At the front it offers a high gloss black honeycomb grille with an RS emblem as well as a sports-type bumper. On each side are full LED headlights.
The side profile of the Honda City RS is highlighted by 16-inch RS Design aluminum alloy wheels.
Its rear is bedecked with additional appointments like LED taillamps, an LED brake lamp, and a glossy black spoiler.
Inside the Honda City RS gets a leather steering wheel, an instrument panel with analog and digital gauges, and an eight-inch infotainment screen.
Under its hood is a 1.5-liter mill paired with a continuously variable transmission that produces 119 horses with 145Nm of pulling power.
Toyota also offers a sporty version of the ever-popular Vios sedan. Slapped with additional cosmetic upgrades, it wears a mesh-type grille flanked by three-tier LED headlamps, daytime running lamps (DRL), LED fog lamps, and a front bumper skirt.
It rides on 16-inch black alloy wheels that complement its sporty-looking side skirts.
The rear of the Toyota Vios GR-S gets LED combination lamps with line guide, a fin-type antenna, a rear bumper skirt, and a GR badge.
The cabin of the Toyota Vios GR-S gets two more GR emblems at the headrest of the two front seats. It also comes with a leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, an Optitron instrument panel, and a 6.75-inch infotainment system.
Powering the Toyota Vios GR-S is a 1.5-liter engine married to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Together, they make 107hp with 140Nm of torque.
Coming in as a new contender in the sporty sedan segment is the GAC Empow. At the fore, it flaunts a large horizontal grille surrounded by LED headlamps and LED DRLs. It also sports faux air vents and carbon fiber-like trims.
It comes with a set of 18-inch allow wheels.
At the back, the GAC Empow offers ruby diamond tail lights, diffusers, and four exhaust pipes.
Inside the GAC Empow are a leather steering wheel, a seven-inch digital instrument panel, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.
Propulsion comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It generates a maximum of 168 horses with 270Nm of torque.
