The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has launched the MG ZS T crossover, the latest addition to its British-bred offerings in the country.
The sport utility vehicle offering is MG Philippines’ freshest take on its well-loved nameplate.
“When we launched the MG brand in 2018, our goal was clear: to be part of the exciting and growing Philippine automotive market, and to provide Filipinos with stylish, modern, and safe vehicles — but at very attainable price points,” MG Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Alberto Arcilla said.
“The local market’s reception has been very encouraging indeed. In just three years, more Filipinos have chosen MG, and there are now over 10,000 MGs on our roads, with several of those being the ever-popular ZS crossover SUV,” he added.
The first in the local lineup to sport MG’s updated global design language, The MG ZS T is now part of the current roster of ZS models available locally, namely the Alpha AT, Style AT, and Core MT variants.
“With the new ZS T by MG, what customers get is an upgrade of all the best features of the original ZS, headlined by a responsive turbocharged engine that provides power on tap when you need that extra boost on the road,” Arcilla noted.
The newly-launched crossover is powered by a turbocharged, three-cylinder, 1.3-liter engine capable of providing 160hp and 230Nm of torque matched to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual Sport mode.
The MG ZS T’s fresh look can be attributed to the new Obsidian Matrix grille and full-LED projector headlights while the 17-inch, two-tone “Tomahawk” wheels in low-profile tires as well as red brake calipers give the vehicle an athletic vibe.
Inside, the steering wheel, dashboard, center console and door panels and seats are clad with soft materials with red stitching.
The new MG ZS T is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This is connected to the six speakers fitted around the vehicle.
Guaranteeing comfort and ergonomics are the vents at the back, multiple storage compartments, and a dedicated USB port behind the rearview mirror ready for dashcam installations.
Further, the MG ZS T is fortified with a host of passive and active safety features such as front, side, and curtain airbags, Rear Cross-Traffic Assist, Lane Change Assist, Cornering Lamps (built-in feature on the fog lamps,) Hill Hold Control, Cornering Brake Control, Traction Control, Vehicle Dynamic Control and Blind Spot Information System with 360-degree vehicle view.
Moreover, the offering is supplemented with premium after-sales services that include a five-year or 100,000-km warranty (whichever comes first), and one-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS).
According to MG Philippines, the newest member of its lineup will be available for reservations starting this month. The price for the MG starts at P1,158,888.
