MG PH starts retail for Vios-contending 2023 GT

The Philippine distributor of Morris Garages has officially made available its latest offering in the country: the 2023 GT sport sedan.

To compete with the likes of Toyota Vios GR-S and the newly-revealed GAC Empow, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) said that the MG GT fully represents its product tagline “Live to Defy” by offering car buyers locally a vehicle that “will challenge their notions of what a sedan can and should be.”

The company also said that the MG GT provides car-C specs and features but wears a Car-B price tag, countering the commonplace notions that are usually associated with models under the subcompact sedan category.

Delivering the oomph for the MG GT is the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces nearly 159 horsepower and up to 250Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to go 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in 8.5 seconds. The mill is mated to a seven-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic (TST) Transmission equipped with paddle shifters to optimize the vehicle’s power band.

Up front, the vehicle, MG GT features a three-dimensional digital flaming grille bordered by full LED headlights and daytime running lamps. Complementing the swooping fastback profile are its aggressive body lines while the rear comes with LED racetrack tail lamps, a ducktail accent on the trunk, and split tailpipe.

Inside the cabin, the MG GT offers zero-gravity sports seats with lumbar support and a fighter jet-inspired cockpit that houses a 12.3-inch full virtual gauge cluster. In addition, the vehicle has a push start button, 10-inch floating high-definition touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. The same screen also serves as the display unit for the car’s 360-degree camera and reversing camera, when either function is activated.

Space and comfort is also guaranteed with the MG GT, thanks to its generous leg- and headroom, which can be attributed to the dimensions: 4,675 millimeters (mm) long, 1,842mm wide, 1,480mm tall, with a 2,680mm wheelbase. Trunk space, per MG Philippines, is 401 liters.

Adding more overall value to the MG GT are the host of technologies that can be found in it. Aside from being assembled with a high density steel cage body with advanced laser brazing, the car has safety features that include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, intelligent high beam control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, and rear cross traffic alert.

 

Just like every model in the MG Philippines’ stable, the MG GT is packaged with premium aftersales offers and services, which are the following:

• Five-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first)
• MG HERO Services 24/7 roadside support (can be reached through the Philippines hotline [+632-8459-4787>).
• Free periodic maintenance (PMS) for the first 10,000 kilometers or six months (whichever comes first)

Further, MG owners can also download the My MG mobile app that will allow them to easily book a service appointment using their mobile devices. The same program can also be utilized to get a booking from its Mobile Garage service wherein customers can have their vehicles repaired at their own homes for major technical issues.

Offered in body colors namely Nuclear Yellow, Moon White, Extreme Speed Red, Brighton Blue, Iron Oxide Grey, and Pearl Black, the 2023 MG GT comes in two variations with the following retail prices:

• MG GT Alpha: P1,015,888
• MG GT Sport: P1,193,888
