MIAS 2019: Subaru PH Unveils Asia-Exclusive Subaru XV GT Edition
Motor Image Pilipinas took the opportunity that is Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) to unveil the Subaru XV GT Edition, which was designed exclusively for Asia.
The XV GT Edition was made in collaboration with Giken Co. Ltd. and Masahiko Kobayashi, Subaru's former chief designer and head of its Global Advanced Design Studio.
Kobayashi was responsible for the exterior design of more than a dozen production models, including the WRX STI.
The special-edition XV GT sports a front bumper lip extension with integrated canards, side skirts, roof spoiler, and rear bumper extension, giving the popular crossover vehicle a sportier design.
The XV GT Edition sits on 18-inch alloy wheels, and has carpets and seat-leather design inspired by the cabins of grand tourers in Germany and Britain.
To add the cherry to the icing, the XV GT Edition has a dual Sideview monitor system to provide more assistance in parking.
For his part, Glenn Tan, deputy chairman of Tan Chong International Limited, said that they are expecting the Philippines to be one of the key markets for the XV GT.
"Motor Image worked with Giken and Kobayashi-San, because they share our enthusiasm for design and creating fun and exciting products. I know this will be the start of an exciting collaboration for Subaru customers," he said.
"We believe this GT edition will help create excitement in Asia and offer customers who want an even sportier version of the XV a new and unique look. We expect the Philippines will be one of the key markets for the Subaru XV GT edition," Tan added.
The Subaru XV GT Edition is being offered in its premier at MIAS 2019 and is also available for booking at any Subaru dealerships in the country.
