What are Chery Auto Philippines' two new electrified vehicle offerings?
The United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI)-led company introduced the hybrid versions of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 5X Pro.What technology is similarly found in the two models?
Both vehicles are equipped with a belt starter generator that recovers the energy generated from braking.Taking the Chinese automaker’s local arm center stage at the four-day exhibit are the hybrid versions of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 5X Pro. To note, CAP is already retailing the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (EV).
"We are thrilled to showcase no less than three state-of-the-art Tiggo models that underscore Chery's world-class technology, especially in the area of electrified mobility,” CAP President Erroll Dueñas said.
"The models that we will unveil are anchored on our Q-Power Global Platform, which is the culmination of Chery’s 25-year power technology development, spanning all future mainstream power forms including hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen. We use state-of-the- art 48-volt hybrid technology on two of our latest models bringing further reduction in fuel consumption and emissions in their daily drives," he added.
The company said that the hybrid system equipped in both the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid and Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid utilizes a belt starter generator (BSG) instead of the traditional alternator that works by recovering the energy generated when braking. The power is then stored in a 48-volt battery and is used to assist and increase the torque and power generated by the internal combustion engine.
The system detects the need for economy or performance — based on the driver's driving style — using the developed algorithm to its maximum potential. As a result, customers can enjoy a 14-percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and savings of up to 13 percent in fuel consumption.
In addition, the BSG delivers an additional 10 horsepower and 40Nm of torque to assist the gasoline internal combustion engine.
Further, Chery's hybrid technology also features a start-stop system that turns off the engine that can be used during stop-and-go traffic situations, which aids in cutting down fuel consumption and pollutant emissions, while minimizing idle noise while the vehicle is stationary.
