KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How did Michelin launch the Pilot Sport 5 in the Philippines?

Michelin staged a virtual press conference to launch the Pilot Sport 5.
  • How many sizes does the Pilot Sport 5 have?

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 comes in five wheel sizes: 17 inches, 18 inches, 19 inches, 20 inches, and 21 inches.
  • Carmudi Philippines was invited to attend the virtual event where execs from Michelin discussed the innovative features of the Pilot Sport 5 tire. They are summed into three categories which are “grip,” “precision,” and “aesthetics.”

Under “grip,” Michelin highlighted the Pilot Sport 5’s Dual Sport Tread Design that allows owners to enjoy enhanced traction in both dry and wet driving conditions. The Pilot Sport 5 tires’ external side with rigid blocks improves grip when driving on dry roads while its internal side with large longitudinal grooves flushes the water away for enhanced wet road traction.

For “precision,” Michelin notes that the Pilot Sport 5 improves a vehicle’s steering precision thanks to the Michelin Dynamic Response Technology. By using a hybrid belt of aramid and nylon construction, the tire brand explained that drivers can experience a better translation of what’s happening on the road to the steering wheel. With better information and control, the Pilot Sport 5 builds a driver’s confidence behind the wheel.

Lastly, under “aesthetics,” Michelin underscores the Pilot Sport 5’s velvet touch sidewall which makes the tires look a lot like sport tires. Michelin says that the velvet touch sidewall creates a sleek, matte-black aesthetic with a velvet-like micro-texture.

In addition, the tires are designed to last long by implementing Michelin’s MaxTouch Construction technology. What this does is it evenly distributes forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering for longer tread life.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 comes in five wheel sizes: 17 inches, 18 inches, 19 inches, 20 inches, and 21 inches. They are now available locally through authorized Michelin tire dealers nationwide.
