Mindanao Avenue Extension Cuts Caloocan-Valenzuela Travel Time to 6 Minutes
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has some good news for people who are traversing Mindanao Avenue every day. The agency announced that the 700-meter portion of the Mindanao Avenue Extension has been completed and is now open to the public.
The said extension runs from P. Dela Cruz Street up to MGM Road in Valenzuela City.
The DPWH said that the project was able to add eight lanes (four lanes per direction), which reduces travel time from 30 minutes to just three to six minutes from the intersection of P. Dela Cruz to General Luis in Valenzuela.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin B. Navarro shared that the Mindanao Avenue Extension was completed in April by contractor Tokwing Construction Corporation.
Last year, the DPWH resumed construction of the 3.2-kilometer road project as it was halted due to right-of-way issues.
Navaro said that the Mindanao Avenue Extension project intends to address the traffic "within the vicinity from Quezon City particularly Novaliches, Valenzuela and Caloocan City, and vice versa."
