What is holding back Mini PH from opening a new dealership location in the country in 2023?
According to Mini Philippines President Willy Tee Ten, it is not likely to open more dealership locations locally for the year due to chip shortage issues that the global brand is experiencing.Where are the Mini dealerships in the Philippines located?
Mini Philippines dealerships are located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC); San Fernando, Pampanga; and in Kamputhaw, Cebu City. The third will most likely be replaced when the upcoming building in Lahug, Cebu City is ready.Per Tee Ten, the current global chip shortage is holding back Mini Philippines from opening additional locations in the country this year.
“We cannot open dealerships right now because there are not enough units to sell anyways. So, opening up more dealerships will just create more problems because we cannot supply the units,” Tee Ten told Carmudi Philippines.
“When future products come in and when the supply is steady, then we can consider looking at more facilities in the future,” he added.
True enough, visitors of Mini Philippines’ website are greeted with a temporary banner that says: “Some modifications have been made to the Mini product range due to the current situation. These might affect models, engines, and special equipment. Some items may also be subject to limited availability and longer delivery times.”
Further, Mini Philippines might be looking at revolutionizing the car buying experience for its customers.
“If you look at the trend of the automotive [industry> around the world, it's not about building more showrooms. It’s really about connecting effectively, efficiently to our customers,” commented Mini Asia Head Kidd Yam.
To date, Mini Philippines has three dealership locations in the Philippines. One is the newly-opened site in BGC; the other is in San Fernando, Pampanga; and the last one is a pop-up store in Kamputhaw, Cebu City. The latter will likely be closed soon should the upcoming sales establishment in Lahug, Cebu City become ready.
The three, according to Yam, will be the marque's key locations in the Philippines.
