MINI Shows Off Electric Car Pulling a Boeing 777
BMW plans to launch an all-electric MINI Cooper this year, and it's taking a no-holds-barred approach in its promotion. Collaborating with German airline company Lufthansa, the British carmaker showed off its yet-unreleased unit pulling a 150-ton Boeing 777F in a teaser video.

In the video, a yellow all-electric MINI Cooper SE can be seen towing a Boeing 777F cargo freighter. Needless to say, the massive plane far exceeds the towing rating that the car will have, and although the compact vehicle doesn't pull the airplane far, it provides enough proof that the MINI packs a lot of torque.
The powerful torque that electric motors produce is something that electric vehicle (EV) makers have been raving about, and so MINI is far from the only car manufacturer to think of this kind of advertising stunt. Last year, a Tesla showed its Model X break the record for electric towing by pulling a Qantas Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

There hasn’t been much information released about the first electric MINI, but it is expected to have a powertrain similar to the BMW i3.
BMW plans to unveil the production version of the Mini Electric in the fourth quarter of this year. The cars will be produced in England and China.
