Mitsubishi bares 'Challenge 2025'
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has revealed Challenge 2025, its three-year mid-term business plan aimed at further growth and securing the company’s future in the changing global automotive landscape.

Per Mitsubishi, the company’s target in terms of operating profit is ¥220 billion with an overall vehicle production volume of 1.1 million vehicles.According to Mitsubishi, Challenge 2025 will establish a stable revenue base through selection and concentration in the firm’s regional strategy and the continuation of company-wide revenue improvement activities.
Through the said strategy, Mitsubishi said that it will achieve sustainable growth through higher and stable spending by increasing its investment by 30 percent in research and development and capital expenditure over the next six years.
Further, the Tokyo-based car brand will include increased expenditure on electrification, information technology, and new business as a proportion of total expenditure.
Mitsubishi also revealed that through Challenge 2025, it aims to achieve an operating profit of ¥220 billion with an overall sales volume of 1.1 million vehicles.
Product-wise, Mitsubishi shared that it will continue to work on electrification as a solution to the global-level issue of climate change and to help achieve carbon neutrality.
In line with the new statement, it can be remembered that the carmaker has released a few notable electrified models including the updated Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle available here in the Philippines and the recently-launched Japan-market eK X EV.
To note, the Mitsubishi eK X EV has won several accolades such as the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Car of the Year award as well as the 2022-2023 Japan Car of the Year award and the Kei Car of the Year.
Mitsubishi also announced that it will roll out 16 new models — including nine xEVs — in the next five years.
Additionally, Mitsubishi will invest a total of ¥210 billion by 2030 to procure 15-gigawatt-hours of battery procurement.
In terms of business, as well as working on value chain expansion, Mitsubishi Motors will take on the challenge of new business to create new future sources of revenue. Furthermore, the company will build long-term relationships of trust with customers through products and technology encapsulating Mitsubishi Motors-ness, and promoting its brand value.
