Mitsubishi Motors announced that it has begun the production of the all-new Outlander sport utility vehicle (SUV) in China. Sales of the nameplate’s latest iteration have begun on November 19, 2022, according to the Japanese automotive brand.
GAC Mitsubishi Motors Co., Ltd. (GMMC), Mitsubishi Motors’ vehicle production and sales joint venture in China, is building the Chinese-spec Mitsubishi Outlander. It is equipped with a 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
“By adding the electric motor assist of the mild hybrid system to the torque characteristics of the turbo engine that starts up from low to mid-speed, the all-new Outlander offers smooth, manageable acceleration while improving fuel efficiency,” Mitsubishi said in a press release.
Other features of the Chinese-spec Mitsubishi Outlander include a robust and powerful styling thanks to the evolved Dynamic Shield front fascia, 20-inch wheels, and a refined high-quality interior. It also comes with an upgraded electronically-controlled four-wheel-drive (4WD) and S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) system.
