Mitsubishi eK X EV earns 5-star rating from JNCAP

Mitsubishi announced that the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) has awarded the eK X EV a five-star rating in its 2022 Vehicle Safety Performance car assessment.

The honor comes after the Mitsubishi eK X EV won the 2022 Japan Automotive Hall of Fame (JAHFA) Car of the Year award as well as the 2022-2023 Japan Car of the Year and the Kei Car of the Year award.

“Mitsubishi Motors remains committed to its safety-oriented philosophy of achieving a mobility society with zero traffic accidents through continued efforts to develop and spread safety technology, and to spread knowledge about traffic safety,” Mitsubishi said in a press release.

Some of the notable safety features of the Mitsubishi eK X EV include driver and passenger SRS airbags, front seat-mounted side SRS airbags, and side curtain SRS airbags, as well as driver SRS knee airbags.

The seven airbags, according to Mitsubishi, enhance the eK X EV’s collision safety performance. It also helped the electric vehicle (EV) impress the judges in the area of “collision safety performance,” where the Mitsubishi eK X EV earned an “A” ranking for scoring 88.31 points out of 100 points.

Further, the Mitsubishi eK X EV is equipped with active safety technology, which are its Forward Collision Mitigation system, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, and Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication.

The abovementioned features helped the Mitsubishi eK X EV achieve yet another “A” ranking in the “preventive safety performance” with a score of 85.74 points out of 91 points.

Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi eK X EV’s emergency call system played a vital role in its achieving a perfect score in the “automatic accident emergency call system” with a grade of “100 percent” for making eight out of eight.
