DENR Cebu Gets i-MiEV, Electric Vehicle Charging Station Courtesy of Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) once again showed its commitment in expanding the growth and awareness of electric vehicles (EV) in the Philippines. MMC turned over one i-MiEV and an EV quick charging station to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Office in Cebu City.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) President and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri led the turn over ceremony. Also present during the event were MMPC Executive Vice President for Sales & Marketing Taichi Nakajima and DENR officials.
MMPC said that the i-MiEV and the EV quick charging station are part of the donation made by MMC to DENR last June 2017. As a review, MMC donated five i-MiEV units, five Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) units, and four EV quick chargers to DENR.
The i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV were also displayed during the first ASEAN Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Summit last June 2017.
Aside from the said event, Mitsubishi also displayed the two vehicles at the sixth Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) last July 2018. These two summits show that MMC is committed to help develop the use of EVs in the Philippines. In addition, MMC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the DENR last February regarding a joint study about environmental load reduction using EV technologies. The i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV are the EVs used for this joint study.
