Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV earns IIHS Top Safety Pick award

The United States (US)-spec 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) received the Top Safety Pick honor from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Of the six crashworthiness tests, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV scored “Good” ratings. Meanwhile, it got both “Good” and “Superior” ratings on the crash avoidance and mitigation evaluations. Further it earned a “Good” rating for the IIHS’ seat belts and child restraints test.

“As the only mass-market plug-in hybrid electric vehicle to offer seating for seven and available DC fast charging, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is designed to provide protection for families. With an enviable suite of crash avoidance and safety features, as well as the sophisticated Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, this is a vehicle that blends safety and technology into one affordable package,” commented Mitsubishi Motors North America Chief Executive Mark Chaffin.

Further improving the nameplate’s safety are a host of features such as standard and available advanced driver assistance systems for driver convenience and confidence.

The US-market Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV packs the Mi-Pilot Assist that integrates adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition to maintain appropriate speed and following distance and keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.

Depending on the variant, the US-spec Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV can get safety features like forward collision mitigation, predictive forward collision warning, active blind spot assist, blind spot warning, lane change assist, as well as lane departure warning and prevention, among others.

In the Philippines, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV impresses not only for its low carbon dioxide emission but also for its outstanding stability, thanks to the brand’s Super All Wheel Control.

Here, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV retails for P2.998 million.
