Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has once again showed its commitment in helping the progress of electric and hybrid vehicles in the country. MMPC witnessed the turnover of two Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and two all-electric i-MiEVs to the Office of the President (OP) and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
The turnover ceremony was held at the Department of Energy (DOE) in Taguig City. The event was graced by Embassy of Japan Minister of Economic Affairs Makoto Iyori, DOE Assistant Secretary Leonido J. Pulido III, MMPC President and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, among others.
MMPC said that the vehicles are part of the agreement between Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) and Sojitz Corporation. In addition, MMPC shared that the four vehicles are part of Japan’s Non-project Grant Aid for the introduction of Japanese Advanced Products and Its System (Next Generation Vehicle Package). Speaking of which, three quick EV chargers were also handed over to DOE.
This is not the first time that Mitsubishi has donated the Outlander PHEV and the i-MiEV to the Philippine government. In fact, Mitsubishi has been aggressively giving the said vehicles to the government since last year. One of the donations handed out by the Japanese company was during the first ASEAN Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Summit last June 29, 2017. Mitsubishi turned over five units of the Outlander PHEV and five units of the i-MiEV to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Mitsubishi has also turned over one i-MiEV and an EV quick charging station to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Office in Cebu City. This is part of the donation made by Mitsubishi to DENR during the first ASEAN Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Summit.
