Mitsubishi PH previews XFC Concept

Following the world premiere late last year, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has finally showcased the XFC Concept in the country.

Last June 16-18, the five-seater compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) concept was put on display at the Newport Mall in Pasay City. Mitsubishi Motors' local arm said that the XFC Concept will be the basis of the upcoming SUV that will be introduced in the market soon.

As seen during the display, the vehicle's design language expresses a strong and sporty profile. The marque’s Dynamic Shield concept was integrated to the new exterior that creates a new design that expresses both performance and protection. In addition, the L-shaped headlights complement the louver-like daytime running lights (DRL) to complete the iconic T-shape — a form that is also sported by the vehicle’s taillamps.

Since it is built as an SUV, the Mitsubishi XFC Concept has a high ground clearance — making it capable of running on various terrains.

Earlier, Mitsubishi said that the vehicle will come with four drive modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud. Introduced for the first time in a Mitsubishi model, the company explained that the Wet mode is designed with use in ASEAN countries in consideration.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle has a horizontally-themed instrument panel and has a spacious cabin area.

During the public display, MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Takeshi Hara shared that the XFC Concept is one of the five products that is set to be launched in the country in the coming years.

“Today, we are excited to share and showcase the concept design that will define the future of the Mitsubishi Motors brand. And to further beef up our product line-up, we are introducing five new models in the next five years.”

When asked further about the details, Hara shared that the models to be launched locally would include the production model of the XRT (probably the next-generation Strada) and a "full model change of current models."
