Mitsubishi marks its 60th year in Thailand by launching a Special Edition Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (Montero Sport in the Philippines). Mitsubishi Motors Thailand also says that the special-edition SUV has an element of charity, allowing the Japanese automotive brand to give back to Thai communities.
“Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was developed to overcome challenging driving conditions of any kind. It was introduced to Thailand in 2008, and more than 700,000 units have been sold globally. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is one of MMC’s global strategic models, and it has been proven as the best choice for customers around the globe who want superior off-road performance, class-leading in driving dynamics, safety, security, comfort, durability, and reliability,” said Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co. Ltd. President and CEO Eiichi Koito.
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Special Edition is based on the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GT-Premium variant and will come with a slew of special accessories such as a “60th Anniversary” side badge, special alloy wheel decals, a “60th Anniversary” headrest cover, and “60th Anniversary” scuff plates.
A special exterior styling package is also available for the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Special Edition which adds a set of blacked-out equipment including its radiator grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear under garnish, and roof rail.
The pitch-black exterior package works well with the special-edition Pajero Sport’s Medium Red body color.
Inside, the anniversary-edition Pajero Sport will come with a wireless charger and a commemorative key pocket for the vehicle’s Keyless Operation System fob to remind drivers that this is a special-edition vehicle.
Other notable features include a power tailgate with hands-free operation, an eight-inch color LCD meter with Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA), and a 12.1-inch Roof Monitor with remote control as well as USB and HDMI connection via smartphone.
Under the hood of the Thai-spec special-edition Pajero Sport is a 2.4-liter MIVEC Turbo Clean Diesel engine that puts out 179 horses and 430Nm of torque. The diesel power plant is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a suite of safety features like auto parking brake (APB) and brake auto-hold (BAH), blind-spot warning with lane change assist (BSW with LCA), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), forward collision mitigation system (FCM), ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system (UMS), active stability and traction control (ASTC), hill start assist system (HSA), hill descent control (HDC) and electronic time and alarm control system (ETACS).
The launch of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Special Edition is accompanied by Mitsubishi Thailand’s special anniversary campaign. Dubbed the “Celebrate 60th Anniversary of Mitsubishi Motors in Thailand, Giveaway 60 Million Baht,” this anniversary initiative gives their customers buying any Mitsubishi vehicles before December 31, 2021, a chance to win one of the six 60-baht gold grand prizes, worth TH฿1,638,000.
