Mitsubishi Ups the Ante with Xpander Cross

With its scheduled grand reveal set today cancelled, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced the introduction of Xpander Cross. 

After announcing that they will cancel the grand unveiling, MMPC also said that they will also cancel the scheduled Xpander Cross mall display in Glorietta 2, Activity Center.

"This decision is made to prioritize the health and safety of the public, our employees and dealer partners."

Going back, the Xpander Cross is set to be the top variant of the Mitsubishi top selling nameplate and a welcome addition to the lineup of seven seater offers of the Japanese carmaker. 

Despite its true DNA being an MPV, the Xpander Cross is said to be built with solid SUV styling, comfortable and pleasant drivability, as well as a spacious, practical and versatile interior design.

The Xpander was first launched in the Philippines in 2018 and has sold 13,494 units during the first year.

Currently, there are about 36,168 Xpander sold and has contribute 30 percent of MMPC's total sales.

MMPC President and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri noted the Xpander's impact to Filipinos.

“The XPANDER is a very important nameplate to MMPC as it fits many of the vehicle requirements of Filipinos. It provides the reliable performance, spacious and comfortable interior, host of safety features and a very bold design. Now with the entry of the XPANDER CROSS, its added features, we see renewed potential to the already successful Xpander nameplate, " he said.

The XPANDER CROSS still sports Dynamic Shield design while wearing lower bumper ‘skid plate’, LED headlights and fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, wheel arch molding and side body garnish as well as roof rails. 

Powering the Xpander is the same 1.5L MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) gasoline engine DOHC 16 Valve.

The Xpander has a class-leading 225mm ground clearance, complemented by the special tuned suspension with a rebound spring.

For its interior, the Xpander Cross has black with brown accents on the dashboard, as well as the seats covered with dual tone leather.

Its head unit is a seven-inch touch screen audio with reverse camera.

The Xpander Cross is retailed at Php1.255 million and is available in the hues such as White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic and Sunrise Orange Metallic. 

Meanwhile, they have also announced that the have tapped the Arellano family to be the ambassadors for the Xpander.
