Relatedly, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation President Takeshi Hara confirmed to Carmudi Philippines during the Mitsubishi PH 60th-Anniversary Expo his plan of bringing the newly-launched model for the local market. In addition, Hara said that he has yet to decide whether they would stick with the newly-revealed name or not.
What is Mitsubishi Xforce?
Mitsubishi shared the latest five-seater model was developed to meet the needs of the compact crossover market in the ASEAN region.
Per MMC, the all-new model features a “stylish yet robust, authentic SUV styling as well as comfort and practicality including a spacious cabin and versatile storage spaces well-balanced in a maneuverable, compact body size, and road handling that allows safe, secure ride in a variety of weather or road conditions.”
"While ensuring the all-new Xforce meets the requirements for driving performance, ease of handling, a comfortable interior, wide-ranging user-friendliness, and everything else demanded of a compact SUV, we have put our heart and soul into the development to bring excitement to the everyday driving of our customers," MMC President and Chief Executive Officer Takao Kato said.
"This compact SUV was developed to answer the needs of drivers in the ASEAN region and has gone through repeated tuning in the region's road environment. We hope the all-new Xforce will become a best-suited buddy for any adventure that drivers wish to embark on, giving them an extra force to go one step further and experience something new,” he added.
Powertrain
Powering the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce is the 1.5-liter double overhead cam, 16-valve engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system mated to a continuous variable transmission.
On paper, the mill can provide 103 horsepower and 141 Newton-meters of torque. It also has four drive modes namely Normal, Wet, Gravel and Mud.
Stopping power of the vehicle comes from the front and rear disc brakes.
Exterior
For its exterior, the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce practically retained the concept model’s aesthetics: the L-shaped headlamps, louver-looking daytime running lights forming a T-shape design at the front. The same design language can also be seen on its tail lamps.
The vehicle’s upper portion showcases a floating roof and sleek design — starting at the logo in front, flowing to sides and all the way to rear. Meanwhile, the lower part comes with a very chunky motif as expressed in the 18-inch wheels outfitted with large-diameter tires that complements the 222-millimeter ground clearance.
Interior
The cabin of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce boasts a 12.3-inch smartphone-link display audio (SDA) and an eight-inch digital driver display based on the Horizontal Axis concept. The two screens are integrated by a large monolithic panel.
Also, the infotainment system comes with the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium comprising eight speakers--with front tweeters on the A-pillars on both sides, woofers in the front doors, and coaxial two-way speakers in the rear doors. Per MMC, the sound system also offers four default sound types: Lively (factory setting), Signature, Powerful and Relaxing.
Further, the SDA has a multi-widget function that divides the display into three sections to display various bits of information.
The multimeter display pays homage to the triple meter that was seen in the Pajero, and combines information including altitude, tilt angle, and direction to increase the joy of driving. Other functionalities available include the driving score function developed with former two-time Dakar Rally champion, and the Weblink function.
Safety, Comfort features
Moreover, the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce has nooks and crannies that can accommodate a total of 21 600-milliliter plastic bottles as well as a wireless charger in the center console, USB Type-A and Type-C ports on the front and rear rows, and spaces to place a smartphone in each seat.
Furthermore, the SUV provides a spacious cargo as its rear seat seats can split 40:20:40.
