Searching for a vehicle that will stand the test of time? Time to consider the new Mitsubishi Xpander.
Recently, Mitsubishi Motorsâs marketing and sales subsidiary in Indonesia, Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI), successfully bagged the number 1 position in both J.D. Powerâs Customer Service Index (CSI) Study and Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study.
The J.D. Power study is the industry standard for new vehicles, examining the common problems and troubles new car owners experience within a six month timeframe.
The study uses a scoring system with a maximum of 1,000 points, measuring the vehicleâs performance in five factors. For the Customer Service Index (CSI), these factors are service quality, service initiation, vehicle pick up, service advisory, and service facilities. The Sales Satisfaction Index has different criteria, namely sales consultant, dealer facility, delivery process, price, and paperwork completion.
The CSI study is based on responses from 2,786 owners of Mitsubishi vehicles who acquired their units between February 2016 and June 2018, and experienced the authorized dealerâs services from February 2018 to June 2019. For the SSI study, J.D Power based the responses from 2,304 owners who purchased their vehicles between June 2018 up to June 2019. MMKSI managed to score a total of 819 points for the CSI and 835 points for the SSI.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is a relatively new vehicle, but it has proved to be a worthy opponent to more established names such as the Toyota Avanza and the Suzuki Ertiga.
The overall initial quality score is based on the number of problems that the owners reported per 100 vehicles. The lower the number, the higher the score. The Xpander managed a score of 51/100, while the Suzuki Ertiga took 57 points, and the Toyota Avanza scored 77/100, placing itself below average.Â
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation gets their units from Mitsubishiâs Indonesia assembly plant, so local Mitsubishi owners can rest easy knowing that their Xpanders are of similar build and quality as those that took the title of being the best built entry level MPV.
