MMDA: 30 ‘colorum’ vehicles impounded since Mar. 9
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority boosted its crackdown against unregistered and-out-of-line public utility vehicles (PUV) operating along major thoroughfares in the National Capital Region as its leadership announced that the agency has impounded 30 vehicles already since March 9.

The operations against “colorum” vehicles, Artes explained, were done after receiving reports from provincial and city bus operators that many provincial buses bypass the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.
According to the agency, the apprehended vehicles were caught along C5 Road, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard and other major roads in Pasay City.
Meanwhile, Artes warned the companies not to engage in unscrupulous activities with traffic enforcers as it only gives a “false sense of security from being apprehended.”
“We do not tolerate extortion, bribery, and other forms of corruption among our personnel or they will be dealt with accordingly. We will continue apprehending colorum and out-of line-buses,” Artes noted.
For his part, MMDA General Manager and concurrent Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan Jr. said that the agency will strengthen its efforts against PUV without proper franchises from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
