MMDA e-bike regulation now in effect

The Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) regulation banning electric bicycles on major Metro Manila roads is now in effect.

According to the agency, the said directive also covers electric tricycles, conventional internal combustion engine-powered tricycles, push carts, pedicabs, kuligligs, and other light vehicles.

The abovementioned vehicles are prohibited on Metro Manila’s national roads, circumferential roads, radial roads, and in places under MMDA’s jurisdiction.

Here are the roads where the abovelisted vehicles are prohibited:

• Recto Avenue (Ave.)
• President Quirino Ave.
• Araneta Ave.
• Epifanio Delos Santos Ave.
• Katipunan/C.P. Garcia
• Southeast Metro Manila Expressway
• Roxas Boulevard (Blvd.)
• Taft Ave.
• Osmeña Highway/South Super Highway
• Shaw Blvd.
• Ortigas Ave.
• Magsaysay Blvd./Aurora Blvd.
• Quezon Ave./Commonwealth Ave.
• A. Bonifacio Ave.
• Rizal Ave.
• Del Pan/Marcos Highway/McArthur Highway
• Elliptical Road
• Mindanao Ave.
• Marcos Highway
• Boni Ave.
• España Blvd.
• Other roads to be determined by the MMDA

A P2,500 fine awaits those who will be violating the said regulation. In addition, confiscation and impoundment of the vehicle will be levied on drivers operating a vehicle without license and those driving unregistered vehicles.
