MMDA Gets High-Visibility Vests from Donor
Look out motorists, soon you will find some Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic personnel wearing new reflective vests while out on the road. These 108 high-visibility reflective vests were donated by a private sponsor last Friday, August 16. According to MMDA Edsa Special Traffic and Transport Zone (ESTTZ) head Edison 'Bong' Nebrija, they appreciate the donations given by private organizations and individuals who are happy and satisfied with MMDA's work.
"Hindi lang naman si sir Alvin Carranza, marami ring mga taong they signify their intentions to help us out. Sa susunod naman may iba na naman gamit na ibibigay sa amin from a different group naman, so, pampa-high morale talaga ito sa mga enforcers natin (It’s not just Alvin Carranza, there are many people who have signified their intentions to help us out. Next would be other equipment that would also be given to us by a different group. This really helps with keeping the morale of our enforcers high)," Nebrija said in an interview at the MMDA office in Makati City.
Task Force for Special Operations and ESTTZ
The new high-quality vests, which costs around PHP700 each, will be divided between the Task Force for Special Operations and Edsa Special Traffic and Trasnport Zone.
"Medyo may kamahalan. Meron naman mga mumurahin pero it will not last long. So, this one, mabasa, maarawan (It’s a little expensive. There are cheaper vests but those won’t last long. So this one, whether it gets wet or used under the sun), it will last longer than the ordinary ones," Nebrija shared.
Nebrija also added that the vests would help them in their duties, particularly at night and during heavy rains.
"Very important, lalong-lalo na at nasa kalsada kami. 'Yung low-visibility condition gaya ng umuulan, like 'yung gabi o pa-umaga. 'Yung vest makikita ninyo, full of reflectors, it helps us to be visible para maiwasan yung aksidente sa kalsada (These are very important, especially because we work in the streets. Low visibility conditions during rains, night time or dawn. As you can see, the vest is full of reflectors, it helps us to be visible so we can avoid accidents in the streets)," Nebrija added.
