MMDA, MIAA push drive vs colorum, illegally-parked vehicles in NAIA
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) are set to address the cases of colorum and illegally-parked vehicles within the vicinity of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Chiong reached out to the MMDA after heavy traffic around NAIA was experienced during the peak of Christmas season.In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) shared that the clearing operations (such as towing unlawfully-parked vehicles and apprehending colorum motorcycles and automobiles at major thoroughfares) near the NAIA Terminals were spearheaded by MMDA Task Force on Clearing Operations Head Edison Nebrija.
The department noted that the group — in collaboration with the MIAA Traffic Police Division, the Pasay LGU, the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) and other member agencies — shall continue to conduct spot operations more frequently to keep the erring individuals out of the NAIA premises.
“We thank the MMDA for their willingness to help us in solving this problem that has been hounding the airport complex for years," MIAA General Cesar Chiong said.
According to the DOTr, Chiong sought the MMDA’s assistance due to the heavy traffic around NAIA during the peak of Christmas season.
The MIAA and MMDA shall enforce sanctions, fines and penalties to violators pursuant to existing laws without prejudice to filing of appropriate charges in court.
