MMDA’s Dimayuga urges field personnel to continue wearing masks
After President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order (EO) No. 3 that makes the wearing of face masks optional in outdoor settings, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III encouraged field personnel to continue wearing them.

Apart from the MMDA Acting chair, Department of Transportation Jaime Bautista expressed his support towards the continued face mask usage.In a statement, Dimayuga explained that wearing face masks will help protect traffic enforcers and street sweepers not just against the COVID-19 virus but also from traffic-related air pollution.
“I support President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on optional wearing of face masks outdoors, but with regards to MMDA traffic enforcers on the field, I encourage them to still wear masks as prevention from pollution emitted by vehicles along major thoroughfares,” the MMDA chief said.
“Traffic enforcers and street sweepers face the risk of acquiring respiratory illnesses in the performance of their duties. To protect their well-being, we highly encourage them to continue wearing face masks because their health is of utmost priority of the agency,” he explained.
The agency shared that it also has drafted a memorandum to all its employees urging them to still strictly adhere to the minimum health protocols.
The EO no. 3 was created after the Inter-Agency Task Force- Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) recommended the optional wearing of face masks in the country.
Prior to the signing of the EO, Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista expressed his support for the continuous usage of face masks while using public utility vehicles.
