Exclusive Mobile Booking Service Now Available at NAIA
A new exclusive airport-centric mobile booking app is now available for use at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) starting Monday, September 11. With the app, travelers arriving at the airport can now request pickup by an accredited airport public transport vehicle.
Airport Shuttle Service, Inc (ASSI), the company behind the new airport booking app, said their system is similar to the ones being used by other transport network companies (TNCs) such as Uber and Grab, with the exception of solely accepting bookings from passengers within the terminal.
ASSI believes their app is the safer and more convenient transport option when booking a ride within airport premises, because their trips are monitored from boarding area to the passenger’s destination.
“Our riding public will now be more comfortable and secure in booking their rides with this new mobile booking app in place,” said Romeo Sayaman, chairman and president of ASSI. “Travelers can access and download ASSI booking app thru Google Play.”
ASSI is one of the few land transport service providers allowed by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to operate within NAIA. As for TNCs, Grab and Uber are also accredited to operate inside the airport.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved at least 25 of the new app’s registered vehicles. These are accredited to operate in all four NAIA terminals.
ASSI users can use the app to book travel to Metro Manila as well as provincial areas such as Bataan, Bulacan, Baguio, Batangas, and Pampanga. In comparison, Uber and Grab can only ferry its passengers to locations within Metro Manila.
MIAA general manager Ed Monreal expressed support for the ASSI booking app. Even with their endorsement, Monreal said that his agency will continue to monitor ASSI’s new system to ensure that it constantly delivers a safe, seamless, and world-class transport service to the riding public.
