Porsche will be represented at the upcoming Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race by 12 911 GT3 Rs. The entries will be coming from 10 customer teams, seven of whom are from the works team.
The annual event — which will take place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps at Stavelot, Belgium on July 29 to August 1, 2021 — will see the 12 911s race in four different classes. Seven of the cars will compete in the Pro division including two entries from Dinamic Motorsport, two from KCMG, and one each for Schnabl Engineering, Rutronik Racing, and GPX Racing.
Porsche 911s from EBM Giga Racing and Herberth Motorsport will compete in the Pro-Am Cup class, while Huber Racing and Hägeli by T2 Racing’s 911s will race in the Am-Cup class.
On the other hand, one 911 GTR 3 from Team Allied Racing will participate in the Silver Cup class.
“After we won the Spa 24 Hours in 2019 and 2020 with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, expectations are obviously very high. In the past few years, teamwork has been the secret to success. This is precisely what we want to continue perfecting. We have 10 teams with 12 cars tackling the Pro, Pro-Am, Silver, and Am categories,” said Porsche 911 GT3 R Project Manager Sebastian Golz.
“Everything is possible on Belgium’s tradition-steeped racetrack. Like at the Nürburgring, the weather conditions can change completely within a very short time. So that’s why we put a lot of emphasis on supporting our customer teams with helpful information at the track. We’ll do our very best to make a hat trick at Spa possible,” Golz added.
Tomorrow, the 12 cars will get afree practice followed by a pre-qualifying round and four qualifying rounds to be concluded by a night practice.
A quick warm-up will take place on Friday before the Super Pole.
The 24-hour race will happen during the weekend. A free live stream of the classic can be viewed here.
