MANILA: The main arrival curbside of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 is now open to all passengers — ending the VIP-only restriction for the aforementioned portion.
In a statement, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) noted that the said move is eyed to give arriving travelers and their loved ones a more inclusive and convenient experience. It also serves as part of its effort to improve traffic flow and passenger comfort at one of the airport’s busiest terminals.
Per NNIC, opening the main arrival curbside to all passengers will streamline the pickup system for both private and public utility vehicles while improving the passenger experience.
The airport operator shared that the new system is in its soft launch and will still undergo fine-tuning and adjustments before its full implementation.
To note, the NAIA T1 main arrival curbside has 14 designated loading bays (A1-A14) where private vehicles can pick up passengers. Bays A8 and A9 are specified for persons with disabilities (PWD), while Bays A11 and A12 will still be kept for VIP pickups. Bays A13 and A14 will be allotted for hotel pickups.
Under the said configuration, arriving passengers now have more options for convenient pickups, including the comfort of waiting at the main arrival curbside.
Further, terminal transfer shuttle bus services will only stop just beyond Bay A14.
Meanwhile, the outer curbside (B1-B6) will be an additional pickup area — which will feature a dedicated Meet and Greet Area. Grab ride-hailing booths will also be strategically positioned in the area to provide quick and convenient booking options for passengers.
Rent-a-Car services, coupon taxis, and yellow metered taxis will be transferred to the arrival extension area on the ground level.
To ensure a smooth transition, directional signages will be installed throughout the terminal, and airport personnel will be available to guide passengers and drivers to the appropriate zones.
