National PUV Caravan Kicks Off, Hyundai PH in Full Support
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the firm behind the distribution of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, showed its solid support for the government's Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) with its enthusiastic participation of the country's first-ever Modern PUV Caravan Motorcade.
The initial leg of the caravan, with the theme 'Arangkada ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Kaunlaran,' was kicked off last July 4, starting from Quezon Memorial Circle and heading on to Clark, Pampanga. Hyundai brought its Class 1 modernized jeepney to the event.
The Caravan, which will have four phases, shall run from July 2019 to February 2020, and will go around the country. Phase 1 is not yet over--after Pampanga, the Caravan will move on to key cities and municipalities in North Luzon until August.
Phase 2 of the Caravan, which will traverse Southern Luzon, will happen in August, soon after the first phase ends. Likewise, Phase 3, which will happen in Visayas, is scheduled for November, and Phase 4 will travel Mindanao from January to February next year.
"We laud the government for organizing this ambitious and important multi-sectoral Caravan," said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo. "HARI is proud to participate in this program that will reach Filipinos across the country and communicate to them the benefits of modernizing our public transport system."
The Modern PUV Caravan is a joint mission of the public and private sectors designed to introduce the vehicles participating in the PUVMP to transport groups, commuters, and stakeholders in and outside Metro Manila. Government partners also aim to use the caravan to address the transport and mobility concerns faced by Filipinos all over the country.
Aside from Hyundai, Hino and Isuzu also pledged their full support for the Caravan and PUVMP in general.
