Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda and wife Neri Naig-Miranda put the all-new Toyota Innova through its paces in the hilly landscape of Alfonso, Cavite. Hauling farm harvests and running daily errands, the face-lifted Innova proves that it has more to offer than good looks and a refreshed interior.

“Kaya ko sya trip kasi di sya nag mama-angas (I like it because the car looks handsome without being too flashy, tacky, or loud),” said Chito. “It’s just the right amount of pogi (handsome),” he added.
The new Toyota Innova MPV offers the right blend of luxury and functionality. Outside, is a new front grille and bumper paired with striking LED headlamps outfitted with daytime running lights (DRL). It also comes with fog lamps, which Chito said is convenient as it sometimes gets really foggy in Tagaytay.
Inside are sophisticated amenities including ambient lighting, foldable seatback tables, added cup holders, and captain seats for the top variant. “Komportable ako, yung feeling mo madam na madam ka (It felt really sophisticated and comfortable inside),” Neri quipped.
Under the hood is a four-cylinder, 16-valve, in-line DOHC with variable nozzle turbocharger and intercooler that gives the all-new Innova improved pulling power. The 2.8-liter diesel mill can either be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission. The former tops at 171hp with 360Nm of torque while the latter peaks at 167hp with 343Nm of torque.
Suspension-wise you get independent double-wishbone with coil springs at the front and a four-link suspension with coil springs at the rear. They are coupled with ventilated disc brakes up front and leading-trailing drum brakes at the back.
In terms of safety, the all-new Innova is equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS), vehicle stability control (VSC), hill-start assist control (HAC), a reverse camera, and a suite of airbags. Innova G and D models also sport clearance and back sonar features that let out an audible warning to prevent any untoward accidents.
