Chery came, saw, and failed to make its mark in the Philippine market a mind-numbing total of three times in the past.
Quite simply, the Chinese state-owned car brand simply couldn’t compete, with reasons for failure including the facts that they had a lackluster lineup, frustrating aftersales network, and the overall cheap quality of their products.
But despite its local absence, the brand continued to persist in other markets, where it licked its wounds, beefed up its muscles, and worked to book another round of bout with the Philippine auto industry.
Now backed by the people behind Foton PH, Chery is back, bringing with it a range of SUVs that are prettier, leaner, and more well-built than anything it has offered before, with the same competitive prices that they are known for.
Chery PH flexes for its local reentry with four models of the Tiggo nameplate—Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5X, Tiggo 7, and the seven-seater Tiggo 8. Check out the specs, features and pricing for each of these cars below.

The Tiggo 2 is the smallest car in the Tiggo family. Its power comes from a 1.5-liter engine that produces 106 hp and 135 Nm of torque that’s mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto gearbox with cruise control. Its infotainment system is Apple and Android compatible, and its standard safety features include stability control, traction control, hill assist, and emergency brake assist, among others. Aimed to go against the likes of Ford Ecosport and Nissan Juke, pricing for the Tiggo 2's different trims are as follows:

The Tiggo 5X comes with a 1.5-liter engine power mill. It’s the same one used in the Tiggo 2, but tuned for some power boost, producing 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque. With a choice of transmission between 5-speed manual and CVT, the subcompact crossover comes in three variants—MT, CVT, and CVT Luxury. The top-of-the-line AT Luxury trim comes with a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, auto climate control, cruise control, push button start, tire pressure monitoring system, and sunroof. Designed to go head-to-head with the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3, pricing for the Tiggo 5X’s different trims are as follows:

Third on the list is the much bigger Tiggo 7, a five seater compact crossover powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that produces 145 hp and 155 Nm of torque. Gear shifts are handled by a dual-clutch transmission. The Tiggo 7 shares many if its luxurious accoutrements with the Tiggo 5X, with the addition of front and rear radar, a 9-inch infotainment screen that links to six powerful speakers, and a panoramic sunroof. Competing against the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V in its class, the Tiggo 7 comes in only one variant, priced as follows:

Chery wades into luxury SUV category with the Tiggo 8, a 7-seater people-carrier propelled by the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine found in the Tiggo 7, with the same power ratings of 145 hp and 155 Nm. The car relies on a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission for shifting and comes with upscale convenience and safety features including hill descent control, electronic anti-theft security system, engine immobilizer, keyless entry with sensing tailgate, tire pressure monitoring system, and 360 HD panoramic view camera. The interior boasts leather-wrapped seats and steering-wheel, a 6-way power adjustable seat, and dual zone auto climate control. The Tiggo 8 is built to do battle with the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Pricing for the different trims are as follows:

All of Chery’s vehicles are covered by a 5-year / 150,000 km warranty complemented by long 10-year / 1,000,000 km powertrain warranty. The brand will also be supported by an initial aftersales network numbering 12 locations all over the country, which includes: North EDSA, Pasig, Pasong Tamo (Makati) and Alabang in NCR; La Union, Bacoor (Cavite), GMA (Cavite) and Cainta (Rizal) in Greater Luzon; Ilo-Ilo and Talisay City (Cebu) in Visayas, and; Cagayan de Oro City and General Santos in Mindanao.
