These days, BMW proves that no automaker is as busy as the German luxury car company. In the past few months, BMW has been hard at work with its iX and i4 models.

Today, BMW shows what it has in store for fans of the X3 and X4.

A first in the series, customers looking to get the X3 and the X4 can now have the option to have BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional feature added into the vehicles’ arsenal of comfort and safety features.

Expanding the X3 and X4’s safety amenities are Active Cruise Control, junction warning with added city brake function, emergency lane assistant, and improved steering and lane guidance assistant.

These features should make the upcoming X3 and X4 models a more appealing option for new drivers.

In terms of appearance, the X3 gets a more modern look donning BMW’s latest iteration of its iconic kidney grille — now larger and with a single-piece frame — along with redesigned LED lights flanking each side. Optional adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function will also be available said the carmaker.

In addition, BMW’s sports activity vehicle (SAV) receives a new front apron and rear bumper. The front apron now has vertical air intakes while the rear bumper is outfitted with a black border complementing the rear LED lights.

The BMW X3 will be offered in an M sports package that will elevate the exterior aesthetics of the SAV. Included is a high-gloss black finished front apron that boasts larger air intakes, window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame and bars (optionally available in high-gloss black), a sportier rear bumper finished in Dark Shadow, and two additional side air‑curtain‑panels in high-gloss black.

The M sports package will also see the BMW X3 ride in 19-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels in Midnight Gray bi-color.

BMW’s X4 sports activity coupe (SAC) also adapts the same refreshed grille, although with a mesh design. While the adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function are optional features in the X3 SAV, they come as standard in the X4 SAC. This means that owners can have the particularly light-intensive BMW Laser Light as the optional add-on.

The X4 also gets redesigned aprons, specifically the rear, with the reflectors now placed vertically and lower in the bumper.

An M sports package is also available for the X4. The package includes frame and inserts, side air-curtain panels, and a new rear apron — all of which can be had in high-gloss black upon request.

Like the X3, the M sports package for the X4 also comes with 19-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels in Midnight Gray bi-color. However, owners can opt for the optional 20- and 21-inch wheels paired with M sports brakes.

Both models get comprehensive interior updates as well. Both the SAV (shown in the first picture below) and the SAC (shown in the second picture) adopt the brand’s 4 series new center console. The X3 and the X4 will be equipped with a 10.25-inch diagonal screen with an optional 12.3-inch version.

New electroplated trim elements on the air vents and an optional ambient lighting function elevate the vehicles’ overall cabin feel.

All X3 and X4 models will have hybrid technology for all engines. According to BMW, all four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines in the two model series now use 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

All engine versions will be mated to an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox specifically matched to the respective engine characteristics.

BMW is also giving the M Competition models of the X3 and X4 a befitting update. The engines of the M Competition models will now feature a forged lightweight crankshaft. Its torsion-resistant design enables transmission of the particularly high torque, while its low weight and reduced rotating masses also benefit the engine’s revving power, said the German carmaker.
