New Continental GT Mulliner Convertible—Utmost Luxury in an Open Top
Nothing speaks freedom like driving a high speed convertible on a long stretch of highway. Sun-kissed cheeks, wind-blown hair, and the rumbling power that you control with your steering wheel and accelerator—for any car aficionado, it’s one of those moments that tell you you’re truly alive.
Now how about adding a healthy helping of luxury to the equation?
That’s exactly what the Bentley’s new Continental GT Mulliner Convertible gives you. Designed, engineered and handcrafted in the UK, the GT Mulliner Convertible is the very essence of Bentley luxury representing everything that the British marque knows about creating the world’s most stylish and elegant Grand Tourers.
Elegant and sculptural exterior styling complements the exquisitely handcrafted cabin perfectly, starting with the cut-crystal inspired, precision-made headlamps, bespoke Mulliner branded side vents and the introduction of the bold new Double Diamond front grille beautifully outlined and bisected by a sleek chrome strip.
The vehicle’s muscular yet sultry stance is rounded off by all-new 22-inch 10-spoke wheels that have been polished, painted, and appointed with self-levelling wheel badges that stay upright even as the wheel turns. Not that anyone will notice when the Mulliner GT Convertible comes whizzing by at 333 kmh top speed.
Either a 6.0-liter V12 or 4.0-liter V8 powertrain will be housed in this Bentley open top’s engine bay. When equipped with Bentley’s twin-turbocharged V12, the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100 kmh in 3.8 secs and is capable of the aforementioned top speed. The newly introduced 4 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 on the other hand, delivers a top speed of 318 km/h and 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 secs.
Inside the GT Mulliner Convertible, Bentley’s signature Double Diamond design permeates, inspired by the brand’s exclusive Diamond-in-Diamond interior quilting concept marked by an embroidery process that took 18 months to develop, according to the brand. The result is a unique and elegant stitching pattern that visibly wraps the door casings, rear quarters, tonneau cover, and all four seats.
The ultimate handcrafted Continental GT Convertible interior offers eight custom-made three-color combinations. A new Mulliner-designed color split defines the eight color ways, including a third accent color to the interior in the form of a distinctive design line. The hand-stitched hides are embellished with unique Mulliner branded embroidery.
A contrast diamond milled technical finish has been applied to the center console, which is finished with a new and exclusive brushed silver Breitling timepiece set within a quartet of chrome bull’s-eyes to provide stunning interior jewelry. The same theme carries from the physical to the digital, with the precision-rendered gauges of the LED-display driver’s instrument panel using the same brushed finish and Mulliner branding.
With regards to infotainment, there’s an available state-of-the-art setup that features eighteen speakers and two Active Bass transducers driven by a 2,200-watt, 20-channel amplifier and eight DSP sound modes with Active Bass.
Buyers have an extended Bentley Mulliner paint range of 61 colors to choose from. Not only that, customers who want their Continental GT Mulliner Convertible in their own bespoke shade can commission Bentley’s artisan paint specialists to color-match to any item or sample.
The first example of the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible will debut at the Geneva International Motor Show this coming March 3, 2020.
