New Land Rover Discovery Sport now in PH
Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), exclusive Philippine distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, has unveiled the new Land Rover Discovery Sport.
During an intimate gathering, CMC president Chris Ward expressed excitement over the coming of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport.
“We are thrilled to bring the new Discovery Sport, the latest addition to our product portfolio for the Philippine market. The new Discovery Sport pushes the boundaries of the premium compact SUV sector with an enhanced exterior design and transformed interior, which I’m sure our Filipino customers will love and appreciate,” said Ward.
With new features and the very latest technology, the new Discovery Sport delivers superior interior space and refinement, while its 5-seater capacity interior features a new infotainment interface plus a more flexible seating arrangement for enhanced versatility.
“The new Discovery Sport has been enhanced to meet the needs of today’s family. The generous space, flexible seating options, and built-in user-friendly technology make this the most ideal family adventure vehicle,” added Ward.
The new Discovery Sport is the latest addition to the bloodline of Land Rover’s heritage of SUVs.
New vehicle architecture ensures the fastest-selling Land Rover ever produced is now more efficient, technologically-advanced and versatile than ever, keeping its occupants safe and comfortable in all conditions.
Trademark Discovery design cues, including the clamshell bonnet, rising beltline and tapered roof remain, but the new model is a bold exterior evolution. The proportions have been optimised to project a more striking visual with new LED headlamps at the front and rear, alongside a new front grille and bumpers.
Inside, the arrival of the digital Touch Pro infotainment system and the introduction of more premium materials throughout transforms the cabin to create a high quality yet practical space.
Newly-designed seats provide improved comfort and versatility, thanks to the second row 60:40 fold through, split fold and slide functionality that comes handy for any family adventure – be it the school run or a family holiday.
Under the skin is Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA). The new body is 13 per cent stiffer than its predecessor, with rigidly-mounted subframes that reduce noise and vibration intrusion into the cabin, improving comfort and providing maximum safety in the event of a collision.
Felix Brautigam, Chief Commercial Officer at Jaguar Land Rover, said that “Discovery Sport has been a real sales success for Land Rover, leading the way for the past three years and selling almost half a million vehicles to date.
"During that time, it has won a number of awards and introduced a large number of new, younger families into the brand who are looking for something different," he said.
“The new Land Rover Discovery Sport is a true Land Rover that embodies what the Discovery family stands for: amazing versatility that allows our customers and their families to make more of their world. While the exterior design has undergone a refined evolution, the all-new Premium Transverse Architecture revolutionises comfort and handling.”
The Discovery Sport provide improved small item stowage and a 20 per cent increase in fuel tank capacity (up to 65-liters).
With the option of Land Rover’s Activity Key, a wearable waterproof wristband that allows customers to lock and unlock the vehicle without using the traditional keyfob, the compact SUV is more usable than ever and designed to take your family further.
The New Discovery Sport is one of the first Land Rovers to use Real Driving Emissions stage 2 (RDE2) certified engines, ahead of their mandatory introduction in 2020.
By tracking emissions using a real-world on-road test in addition to traditional laboratory measurements, customers can be certain the latest Ingenium diesel engines available on the compact SUV are cleaner and more efficient than ever.
To maximise efficiency, models with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) benefit from Driveline Disconnect – a Power Transfer Unit at the front axle that disconnects drive to the rear wheels under steady state cruising, reducing frictional losses and re-engaging AWD in less than 500 milliseconds.
The digital transformation does not stop there. Wireless charging for compatible mobile devices is introduced for the first time within the lower centre console, while USB and 12-volt connectivity points on every row ensure passengers remain charged and connected.
The latest Discovery Sport is every inch a Land Rover, combining assured all-terrain handling with all-weather capability, including a wading depth of 600mm, and All-Wheel Drive.
It also has Terrain Response 2 that automatically detects the surface and adjusts the torque delivery to best suit the conditions.
A reversing camera as standard on all models, alongside a suite of advanced driver assistance systems such as Lane Keep Assist and Driver Condition Monitor.
The new Land Rover Discovery Sport is available in the S trim in addition to the R-Dynamic variant, which features Diamond Turned alloy wheels, unique front and rear bumpers and Shadow Atlas script on the bonnet and tailgate.
Inside, Ebony seats with contrast stitching and unique treadplates provide a sportier character.
