New LTO chief to speed up resolving agency-related issues
Newly-minted Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said that he will not waste time in setting straight the issues that the agency is currently facing.

Per Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista, the agency is expecting to resolve the issues with motor vehicle plates and license cards within this year.To note, LTO is still resolving the license card shortage and motor vehicle plate backlogs. Additionally, the agency is combating the fixers that corrupt the system.
“Let’s not waste time as we have a lot to do and a lot to fix. Hopefully we will resolve these issues the soonest and then in the next five years we will take it easy,” Mendoza said in a press release.
He added that he is determined to help transportation secretary Jaime Bautista. The recently-appointed LTO chief also explained that he will follow the instruction of Bautista and that he will work on accomplishing the directives received.
If the tasks can be done immediately, it must be done right away, Mendoza said.
“Let’s not wait five years. I believe that if we can do it tomorrow, why wait next week? Let’s do what we can do now,” Mendoza stated.
During Mendoza's oath-taking, Bautista urged the newly-appointed LTO head to address the abovementioned issues hounding the agency.
“I know that Attorney Mendoza will be able to do the job. He has all the qualifications, training, and experience,” Secretary Bautista said as he administered Mendoza’s oath.
“Our problems with the motor vehicle plates and license cards will be resolved within the year. With the finalizations of the procurement of the plates, we already had a delivery last week [motor vehicle plates> and today, the delivery of our license cards will happen,” Bautista said.
