There’s a new Mini in town, and it’s the biggest and most versatile yet. Mini Asia and British United Automobiles Inc., jointly announced the arrival of the new Mini Countryman in the Philippines — shaking up the local premium compact segment.
Coming in as Mini’s largest model, the Cooper S Countryman offers an upright stance with increased ground clearance suggestive of generous interior space, robust character, and inspiring driving characteristics.
At the front are LED headlights flanking its hexagonal radiator grille with a red “S” and a single chrome strut. The rear features a redesigned apron and LED taillamps in Union Jack design. It rides on 19-inch light-alloy wheels.
The Mini Cooper S Countryman adds two new colors to the Countryman palette: White Silver metallic and Sage Green metallic. A piano black exterior trim is also available which adds a high-gloss black headlight surrounds, rear lights, radiator grille, and side indicator elements – or side scuttles.
Inside, the new Countryman features a new digital instrument panel with a five-inch color screen as well as an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The electrically adjustable seats, with memory function, are finished in top-grain leather.
The Mini Cooper S Countryman offers 450 liters of cargo space, which can be expanded to 1,390 liters by folding the rear seats.
Under the bonnet of the not-so-compact Countryman is the brand’s Twin Power Turbo gasoline engine that puts out 192 horses and 280Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to a seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch sport transmission. This powertrain setup lets the Countryman go from zero to 100kph in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 226kph.
The Mini Cooper S Countryman is now available in the Philippines with a sticker price of P3,750,000. It adds to the growing lineup of Mini vehicles in the country including the Mini 3-Door, the Mini 5-Door, Mini Convertible, and Mini Clubman.
