Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has formally unveiled the newest iteration of Xpander Cross.
The spruced-up version of the nameplate’s top-of-the-line version — known to be the best-selling model in multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) category — integrates its progressive look with luxury and comfort that can also be experienced in other premium models.
Giving the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross its very sporty look are the new front and rear bumpers with guard bar motif rails that complements the black wheel arch moldings, door garnishes, side sills, and roof rails.
Compared to the old version, the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross' lighting system (head- and tail lamps, daytime running lights as well as fog lamps) are all on LED.
Giving the vehicle a more rugged stance are its new 17-inch alloy wheels, while the updated tailgate garnish is seamlessly integrated to the T-shaped taillights.
Inside the cabin, occupants will be greeted by a rich mix of leather and navy-blue trimmings--mainly on the seats that come with heat guards that also ensures comfort any time of the day.
The driver gets a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel (adapted from the Mitsubishi Montero Sport) that is tilt and telescopic adjustable.
The dashboard houses a new eight-inch digital meter cluster and a seven-inch smartphone-link display audio (SDA-3) system that features hands-free functions and is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
For improved convenience, its front console has been converted into a larger capacity open tray and still has a 12-volt outlet and USB port. The center console features a digital air-conditioning system with a max cool button for rapid in-cabin cooling.
The new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross guarantees a spacious luggage and versatile storage compartments. Per MMPC, the seven-seater vehicle has an adaptable rear cargo that can fit bicycles, camping gears or any bulky items. Aside from the usual nooks and crannies, it also comes with front row and luggage under trays.
Further, those who seat at the second row can enjoy type-A and type-C ports on the back of the console while those at the last row can utilize power outlets.
Aside from the steering wheel, the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross now has a rear suspension system similar to that of the Montero Sport. The enlarged rear shock absorber, the company explained, resulted in a more comfortable and stable ride even on rough roads.
Technologies like the active stability control, hill start assist, traction control, cruise control, a high-definite reverse camera, electronic parking brake, brake auto hold, and new active yaw control system for a more guaranteed safe and secured driving experience.
Just like the model’s lower trims, Powering the new Xpander Cross is the potent 1.5-liter Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system (MIVEC) double overhead cam 16-valve engine that can provide as much as 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. This is paired to a four-speed automatic transmission.
“With the New Xpander Cross, they (customers) can comfortably and confidently go out and experience the scenic places of the Philippines. Hence our tagline: “Cross the Current”. Where your family can expand horizons in comfort and style. It is as if you are crossing into a new world filled with memorable experiences,” MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Takeshi Hara said.
Offered in two monotone and two-tone options, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross can be had in the following body colors: Sunrise Orange Metallic (two-tone), Quartz White Pearl (two-tone), Graphite Gray Metallic and Black Silver Metallic.
