Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) unveiled an updated version of the country’s best-selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in January — the Xpander Cross.
With its arrival also came a few enhancements that further take the nameplate to the next level. Exterior upgrades like a new black honeycomb grille, a pair of new T-shaped headlamps and fog lamps, a set of new 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and new claddings with chrome trims do make the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross look more modern.
And as for its interior? More on that as we check out what’s inside the cabin of the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.
Awaiting owners of the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is a cabin that feels more like its bigger brother, the Montero Sport. Familiar details can be found on its center console (which sports similar chrome and piano black appliques), a new four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, and a cleaner-looking dashboard.
Mitsubishi has done away with the knobs on the air conditioning controls and replaced them with streamlined switches. The switch — pun intended — has made the Xpander Cross look more premium and elegant.
The new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross wears new digital screens in the form of the eight-inch full-LCD instrument cluster and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The former displays relevant driving data in crisp detail while the latter shows the driver and the front passenger information and entertainment features.
Mitsubishi decided to slap blue leather interior trims inside the cabin of the new Xpander Cross. The addition of this blue hide only adds a level of elegance that befits this MPV’s status in its variant hierarchy.
A few hard plastics can still be found on the dashboard and on the door panels, but these still do little to diffuse the air of elegance offered by the updated multi-purpose automobile.
The new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross shows the carmaker’s Filipino fans that the range-topping variant of this nameplate can somehow bridge the gap between MPV and sport utility vehicle (SUV). That said, those on the market looking for an empowering family carrier can consider this updated segment contender.
The updated Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is priced at P1.328 million.
