The local distributor of Chery vehicles in the country revealed that the first batch of all-new Tiggo 7 Pro units was sold out within 30 days of launch.
Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) — under United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI) — said that after being unveiled to the public last January 27, the model received a warm welcome from the customers, and claimed that there is a growing waiting list for the next shipment.
According to CAP, the next shipment is set to arrive this month.
CAP President Rommel Sytin expressed pride over the local market's acceptance of Chery's offerings.
"The warm market acceptance to the all-new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a strong indication that more and more Filipino buyers are no longer just settling for bargains or low-priced units, but are now looking for true great value, regardless of brand," he said.
"Filipinos are now aware that they can get all the features and even more than what the established brands are giving, at a better price," Sytin added.
The introduction of the Tiggo 7 Pro is CAP’s first all-new model since UAAGI took the distributorship. For its recent comeback, Chery brought along four crossovers that they have started with the Philippines market namely the subcompact Tiggo 2 and Tiggo 5x, the compact Tiggo 7, and the midsize seven-seater Tiggo 8.
Sytin added that while they are giving their clients great value on the vehicles, they are also eyeing to go head-to-head with premium brands. "The Tiggo 7 Pro has the upmarket styling and features that can let it sit side by side with premium brands and still hold its own," he maintained.
Chery Vice President and Global Chief of Car Design Kevin Rice (who used to design BMWs and Mazdas) designed the new Tiggo 7 Pro's European-inspired look. To note, Rice was once Hiroshima's European Design Director, making him instrumental in the design of Mazdas, which included the MX-5, from 1999-2005 and with BMW, for the exterior design of the previous 1, 3 and 4 Series.
For its exterior, the Tiggo 7 Pro wears a huge grille with slim LED headlamps. It also has the floating-roof effect achieved by black wrap-around rear pillars, and more upmarket styling courtesy of the 18-inch alloy wheels and the distinctive lines.
On the inside, occupants are welcomed by a leather-covered cabin with red double stitching to match the red accents on the doors and dashboard.
It also has a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen, six-speaker infotainment system that can be connected via Bluetooth, Mirror Link, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and USB. The air-conditioning system can be controlled through the touch panel.
Its premium features are the smart key (which starts the engine, turns on the air-con, opens the tailgate and windows at a push of a button) a wireless mobile phone charging plus three USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, multi-color cabin ambient lighting, 360-degree high-definition camera, a power tailgate, a push-button electronic parking brake, a tire pressure monitoring system, a rear camera with front and rear proximity sensors, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
Powering the all-new Tiggo 7 Pro is a 1.5L turbocharged DOHC 16-valve Euro 5 four-cylinder engine paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
It is also equipped with safety features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability program (ESP), electronic brake assist (EBA), traction control system (TCS), hill assist control (HDC), hill descent control (HDC), brake override system and emergency signal system.
Currently marketed at P1.198 million, the Tiggo 7 Pro is packaged with a standard 10-year/1 million-kilometer engine warranty, a five-year/150,000-kilometer general vehicle warranty, free three-year preventive maintenance service (PMS), and free three-year roadside assistance.
Further, CAP claimed that the pricing is due to the distributor absorbing the safeguard tariff until March 31, 2021.
