Next-gen Mitsubishi Montero Sport world premiere to be held in PH?

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will play host for a world premiere of its latest concept vehicle, which could possibly be the forthcoming generation of the Montero Sport.

According to its local arm, the Japanese manufacturer’s soon-to-be-revealed concept shall be a seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV). It is scheduled to appear at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show slated on October 24-27 at the World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City.

Without revealing exact details, MMPC said that the seven-seater SUV concept “embodies Mitsubishi Motors' commitment to provide fulfilling mobility lifestyles that awaken the adventurous spirit of drivers and provide excitement for everyone on board.”

To note, the currently-retailed Mitsubishi Montero Sport in the country entered the local market in 2016.

The unveiling would be an monumental event for the marque’s local arm and the country’s automotive industry as a whole as it would be the first time in the brand’s history that it shall put the spotlight on the Philippines.

  The Japanese marque added that the unveiling of the new seven-seater SUV concept in the Philippines “underscores the brand's dedication to ASEAN drivers and reaffirms MMPC’s pivotal role in Mitsubishi Motors' global strategy.”

“Traditionally, such global debuts had taken place in other key markets like Thailand or Indonesia. However, the Philippines, which is now the central focus of MMC, takes the spotlight this year, making the concept car’s reveal all the more significant,” MMPC explained.

MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Ritsu Imaeda said that the decision to have the world premiere in the Philippines is a testament to the country’s growing importance within Mitsubishi Motors' global operations.

“This new concept reflects Mitsubishi Motors’ vision of delivering top quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are thrilled that this will be showcased for the first time in the Philippines,” he added.

Moreover, MMPC stated that the upcoming concept vehicle brings together the brand’s heritage of craftsmanship and its commitment to developing vehicles that meet the unique demands of the market.
