Nissan Forms Nismo Heritage Program to Create New Parts for Old Models
There's hope yet for old Nissan cars as the Japanese carmaker has has adopted the practice of some car brands by creating new replacement parts for some of its classic--and iconic--heritage models as part of its new Nismo Heritage Program.
A joint activity of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Nissan Motor Sports International Co., Ltd., Autech Japan, Inc., and their suppliers, the first project of the Nismo Heritage Program is to offer parts for the R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R, which was made from August 1989 to January 1995.
According to Nissan, it has maintained a close relationship with its Skyline GT-R owners, and after studying the remanufacturing and resupplying of discontinued parts for the R32--especially ones that are indispensable for the car to drive or to pass regular vehicle inspections in Japan--it has decided to sell about 80 parts at the start of the program. These include harnesses, hoses (tubes), emblems, and other exterior components. When certain parts can't be reproduced due to operational difficulties at original suppliers, Nissan will consider methods of replacing these parts using substitute, rebuilt, or overhauled products, as well as NISMO-tuned parts.
Furthermore, as Nissan consider expanding the range of parts on offer for the R32, it is also looking to broaden the program's scope by including the R33 and R34 GT-R models in the future as well.
Although the parts will go on sale strictly in Japan starting on December 1, we image it won't be difficult to import these locally.
