Nissan Formula E Team Completes 247 Laps in Preseason Testing
It seems that Nissan is ready for the fifth season of Formula E as it completed its preseason testing.
The Nissan e.dams Formula E team has completed 247 laps during the racing series' preseason testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. The preseason run in Valencia is the first time that all competing Formula E teams have driven on track.
Each team pitted its respective Gen 2 car, which is a new Formula E car that features new battery, drivetrain, and aerodynamics. During the preseason testing, the Nissan e.dams completed 247 laps, which the team will use to gather important powertrain and energy management data.
As a review, the drivers of the Nissan e.dams Formula E team consists of 2015-16 Formula E champion Sebastien Buemi and Formula 2 driver Alexander Albon. However, Albon was not with the Nissan e.dams team during the preseason testing due to some issues. Reports state that Albon is looking to seal a deal with the Toro Rosso Formula 1 team and team up with Daniil Kvyat for the 2019 season. As such, Buemi was joined by ex-Formula Renault 3.5 champion and F1 junior driver Oliver Rowland during the preseason testing in Valencia.
Despite the issue, Buemi and Nissan e.dams team finished on top of the timesheet for the first time during the Wednesday early afternoon session. Nissan says the Swiss racer was also the third fastest into the final Wednesday afternoon session.
Overall, Buemi’s performance managed to put Nissan e.dams as the fourth fastest team during the preseason testing in Valencia. The fifth season of the ABB FIA Formula E championship will kick off on December 15 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
