Nissan has confirmed that the
Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign, which is a substantial redesign both in and out of a
2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo that
commemorates the 50th anniversaries of both the
GT-R and Italdesign, will go into production for a
very limited run of 50 units.
According to Nissan, the production model's exterior will be
virtually unchanged from the prototype that
debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in July. However, unlike the prototype which was finished in a special gray with gold accents, customers will be able to
specify their preferred color combinations for their car as well as
choose its interior colors and packages. Besides the revamped styling, the GT-R50 will receive a
power boost, which is why, according to Nissan, it considers the GT-R50 prototype "as
the evolution of the Godzilla."
"The reaction from Nissan fans around the world--and potential customers of the GT-R50--has greatly exceeded our expectations," said
Bob Laishley, global sports car program director at Nissan. "These 50 cars, which celebrate 50 years of the GT-R as well as 50 years of Italdesign, will be rolling tributes to Nissan's engineering leadership and rich sports car heritage for a long time to come."
Customers who wish to own a GT-R50 may start by visiting
GT-R50.nissan and contacting Italdesign to create their own bespoke car.
Deliveries will begin in 2019 and will
continue through 2020.

As of last December 7, you can check out the GT-R50 by Italdesign prototype at the
Nissan Gallery in Yokohama.
