The pact was signed last July 10, the same day that the refreshed version of the Almera was revealed.
Representing Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Undersecretary Myra Paz-Abubakar expressed the agency’s gratitude to NPI for its commitment towards achieving the same goal of showcasing the beauty of the Philippines to the world.
"Our nation is brimming with hidden gems, places that have yet to be fully explored and experienced. Drive Pinas will shine a spotlight on these extraordinary locations, enabling travelers to uncover their magic, immerse themselves in local culture, and forge unforgettable memories," Frasco said in a speech delivered by Paz-Abubakar at the event.
For his part, NPI President Juan Manuel Hoyos also shared his excitement over the new partnership.
“While the Department of Tourism already has a strong vision to make locals and tourists alike love the Philippines even more — like I do — Nissan supports this vision with our commitment to creating innovative vehicles and technologies to add excitement to these journeys, all while leaving a positive impact on society and environment,” Hoyos said.
NPI and the DOT have collaborated in numerous programs like the “Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover with Nissan” campaign, and more recently, the “Safe Trips” project to promote local destinations and boost domestic travel amid the pandemic.
