Nissan PH to cut down Leaf pricing soon

Those who would like to get their new Nissan Leaf may want to hold their horses a bit as the leadership of Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) announced that there will be an upcoming reduction to its current pricing.

NPI President Juan Manuel Hoyos bared the forthcoming adjustment during a recent thanksgiving event.

According to him, the nearing price movement is the result of the newly-released Executive Order 12 that temporarily modifies the tariff rates on imported electric vehicles (EV) in the Philippines.

With that, the model’s current price tag of P2.79 million will have a substantial decrease, making it more affordable to those who are eyeing to make the switch to greener mobility.

The purely-electric model has a range of up to 311 kilometers based on New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards. Its powertrain can provide up to almost 148 horsepower and 320Nm of instantaneous pulling power.

Further, Hoyos  is looking forward to a more productive 2023 as it is set to reveal more products and services this year.

Without revealing anything yet, the company executive said that the public can expect a showcase of "speed, excitement, and performance" with Nissan's upcoming launches within the year.

Hoyos also looked back at the milestones that Nissan Philippines had for 2022, which include the launch of the Blue Switch initiative; introduction of e-Power technology through Nissan Kicks; revival of the Livina nameplate; digitization efforts like the Nissan Assist app, and upgrades to some of the brand's most popular nameplates namely the Navara Calibre-X, Urvan, and Leaf.

"We understand that 2022 was a difficult time for the entire industry. Faced with this challenge, Nissan did dare to do what others don't by pivoting and shifting its priorities," Joyos said. "We turned to further building the brand by conquering new segments and improving the customer experience through digitization. We also focused on strengthening our electrification strategy by expanding our Blue Switch ecosystem with our new partners and by bringing in e-Power technology that offers Filipinos a glimpse of sustainable mobility," he added.
