Nissan Philippines expressed firm belief that the Terra nameplate will continue to be one of the key sales drivers for them.
In an interview following the launch of the new Terra, Nissan Philippines Assistant General Manager for Communications Dax Avenido said, “I can say that we are confident that the New Terra will definitely continue to contribute to the growth of the company,” he said.
Such assurance was given following the strong numbers that the has nameplate enjoyed.
According to Avenido, the previous-generation Terra already holds third place in terms of sales volume for the midsize SUV category. “As of July 2021, the Nissan Terra is third in ranking with a 12 percent market share,” Avenido shared to Carmudi Philippines. The Terra had enjoyed peak segment performance of 23 percent of sales in the past. Now, NPI is obviously expecting to reach or even surpass that figure with the entry of the new version.
The leader in the segment is the Toyota Fortuner, accounting for 52 percent of sales followed by the Mitsubishi Montero Sport with 15 percent.
However, due to the volatility of the local market with current situation, the company has not put a sales target for the new Nissan Terra this year.
The new Nissan Terra was launched last week to replace the previous iteration that was introduced in May 2018. The local distributor dropped the automatic transmission in the base EL option for this iteration — bringing the variants down to four, which are the following:
The new Nissan Terra comes in Nebula Metallic Red, Forged Metallic Copper, Aspen Pearl White, Lunar Metallic Gray, Brilliant Silver, and Galaxy Black. An additional P15,000 will be added to the price of the Aspen White color option.
